VIVID IMAGES

In the pictorial proposal of this painter it is impossible to ignore the plastic universe she creates. There, we are like spectators, surprised at each step by an unexpected and pleasant –for the senses- alteration of reality evocating, in turn, a privileged revelation of a world of light, delicate and fresh poetics about the feminine. This shows the skills of the artist to grasp the singularity of all the unnoticed riches, inherent in a reality broaden to an unusual and imaginative scale, revealing itself the development of a rich plastic poetics founded on a prolific and living repertoire of shapes and colors

PARIS. Six suspects, including four members of the artist’s family, were arrested on 25 November; they are accused of counterfeiting, receiving counterfeit goods and fraud. The artist, Christian Duran, died in 2006.

Obama signs Recovery and Reinvestment Act with reinstated support for the arts

NEW YORK. The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Smithsonian Institution have secured a small allotment of federal funding as part of the $787bn American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed by President Obama on 17 February, following fears that arts groups would be completely excluded from the stimulus package. A committee comprising members of both houses of Congress reached an agreement on the final spending bill, which was notably smaller than the versions passed by either the House or the Senate, with a number of cuts made to education and health programmes to secure the sliver of Republican support needed (three votes) to pass the bill. The NEA will receive $50m to distribute to non-profit arts organisations while the Smithsonian gets $25m to repair its facilities.
